Inclusivity is really important here

The inclusive culture at Abcam has really enabled me to be myself at work and thrive here. I have particularly enjoyed setting up Abcam’s Rainbow Community (ARC) employee resource group. Our mission is to support the LGBTQ+ community by making Abcam an authentically inclusive place to work where everyone can realise their full potential. Spending quality time with my family

It's so refreshing to work in a company that really thinks about what new parents need wherever they live. With 6 weeks fully paid paternity leave, I was able to enjoy those precious few weeks with my wife and son, getting used to the routine, not to mention mastering those new baby skills. I can now get my degree

Doing a degree was something I always wanted to do but due to economic circumstances growing up I was never able to. When Abcam offered degree apprenticeships suitable to my role as a full stack engineer, I was ecstatic at the prospect. I am currently in Year 2 BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions. My mentor, line managers and HR have been very supportive. They have ensured I get the time, resources and guidance needed to focus and do well, as well as helping me maintain balance and focus on my family. Sean Lindsay-Smith Full-stack engineer

Knowing our people

We get to know who we are through equality monitoring where everyone gets the chance to self-identify certain characteristics, which means we find out how we see ourselves.

Launched our Abcam Equals campaign to promote allyship with a day of celebration where we got to share what allyship means to us.

Over 80 people came together to discuss the breakthrough conditions required to nurture multicultural employee career success.

Launched globally consistent family first policies including generous family leave as well as celebrating all new family members with a beautiful Abcam baby box.

Policies for everyone

We've been working hard on our policies that will support our people. Transitioning at work is the latest to launch. We also recently published guidelines around menopause.

Veterans network

Created a new community for veterans, family of veterans and their supporters. Mentoring to support adaptation to civilian life is just one of the areas we hope to focus on.
