About the role: 
The R&D group at AxioMx, an Abcam Company, is developing innovative technology for antibody discovery by phage display, stable cell line construction, and optimization of antibody production using cell and molecular biology strategies. The R&D Group also generates phage libraries and develops panning strategies for challenging, high-value targets.

As a Research Associate, your main responsibilities will be: mammalian cell culture, cell line development, fluorescence microscopy, FACS analysis, panning phage display libraries, ELISA and molecular biology techniques.

Essential Responsibilities:
Mammalian cell culture for cell line development, antibody discovery using phage display, molecular biology techniques and protein purification
• Plan and execute experiments, including relevant literature searches. Thorough documentation of the work, contribute to data analysis and interpretation of results
• Help assessing information to ensure data quality and completeness of results
• Effectively communicate to all levels of the organization and present results to supervisor and peers
• Anticipate problems to minimize issues; work to resolve any issues quickly to reduce impact and increase success of projects
• Multitask and collaborate with team members
• Assist with regular assigned laboratory maintenance duties
• This position will require weekend and/or holiday work when needed

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field
• 2 years of relevant laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting

Preferred Qualifications: 
Master’s degree in cell biology, molecular biology or a related field 
• Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, microscopy, ELISA, molecular biology and protein purification. FACS experience is a plus.
• Good understanding and knowledge of cell culture techniques and processes
• Experience in transient protein expression, transfection and selection.
• Knowledge of standard molecular biology/biochemistry protocols
• Solid understanding of scientific principles
• Demonstrated fundamental laboratory skills required
• Detail-oriented, organized, ability to implement protocols and maintenance of a detailed lab notebook
• Should be self-motivated, detail oriented, and flexible with excellent organizational and communication skills
