Human Resources Advisor

Department: HR Business Partnering

Location: Hangzhou, China, China

Summary of Role:

Provides operational HR support to managers and employees within a defined geographic region (APAC).


Primary Accountabilities:

·        Provide first line support for any Employee Relations issues

·        Manage all cases, including any escalated from HR Shared Services

·        Collaborate with managers to identify performance and/or capability concerns

·        Provide support (when required) on talent development and training across the regional offices

·        Partner with the Reward function to support the annual performance management and reward cycle and any additional performance or reward projects

·        Advise on HR compliance, employment contracts and employment law

·        Act as the SME for visa requirements

·        Conduct exit interviews for all departing employees within the regions

·        Consult on paternity, maternity and compassionate/bereavement leave requests

·        Support day-to-day change, communication and employee engagement in collaboration with the Change Management and Internal Communications Directors

·        Advise on policy updates and regional HR best practice

·        Other duties as reasonably requested


Key Performance Indicators and Deliverables:
Responsible to line manager for:

·        Manager and employee satisfaction with day to day HR case management and advice

·        Employment and company compliance on HR policy and relevant regional employment law


Main Interfaces and customers (internal / external)

·        Internal client group:

o   Business leaders
o   Managers
o   Employees

·        HR functions and HR shared services

 
Competencies, (Skills, Knowledge):

·        Strong awareness of business issues

·        Knowledge of HR policies /procedures and best practices. Ability to work with functional groups and different level of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results

·        In-depth knowledge of employment law in relevant jurisdictions

·        Able to advise on local cultural business norms and behaviour

·        Must be able to maintain confidential information

·        Fluent written and spoken English and local business language (e.g. Chinese), where relevant

·        Japanese language would be advantageous

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·        BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

·        3 years of relevant HR/ER experience


Desired Qualifications:

·        Prior experience providing operational HR advice at a global leader, preferably in the life sciences sector.

·        PHR or SPHR

·        Demonstrated expertise in a comprehensive range of HR case work, including compliance, ER, internal policies, etc.

·        Experience using an HRIS (Oracle preferred)

·        Proficient in MS Outlook

·        Exceptional communication skills
