Finance Analyst, Innovation & Manufacturing

About the role
Due to growth, we have created a new role within our Financial, Planning and Analysis team for a commercially astute Finance Analyst. This role will support the Finance Business Partner for Manufacturing & Innovation with planning and decision support for Abcam’s global manufacturing and R&D facilities. Interacting directly with scientists and senior managers, and providing detailed and insightful analysis, this role will be vital in ensuring that investment and planning decisions are robust and data driven.

About FP&A at Abcam
The FP&A department at Abcam is rapidly growing and evolving having been formed as a sister function to our core finance team during 2015. The aim of all of our FP&A colleagues is to support the various global business units, providing useful and insightful information to the senior and executives leaders to support and add value through the decision making, financial planning and budget management process.

Roles & responsibilities:
  • Work closely with management and scientists in the UK production and R&D facilities to develop and maintain resource and planning models
  • Provide I&M management and lab staff with value added analysis in order to support operational and strategic decision making
  • Support the Finance Business Partner in the preparation of forecasts and budgets
  • Provide monthly budget/forecast variance analysis to UK based I&M function
  • Support in the development and maintenance of comprehensive set of key performance indicators for UK based I&M function, in line with Abcam’s strategic objectives
  • Support in providing Business Case analysis and detailed return on investment for R&D projects and Capital investment
  • Make recommendations for process improvements within UK production facilities
  • Ad hoc analysis and modelling as required
About you
The role would suit an ambitious part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA) candidate with a strong manufacturing/costing background and extensive experience gained in a high volume, data driven role. Strong graduates with some work experience may also be considered

Advanced Excel skills are essential as is the ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment. You should have a problem solving mentality, exceptional organisations skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
