BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration – This apprenticeship is designed to equip apprentices with the fundamentals required to work in a business environment.
Monthly paid salary with regular increases based on performance and successful completion of exams
Total hours per week 37.5 (80% on the job / 20% learning)
Overview of your role as an Apprentice Personal Assistant
Abcam, a rapidly expanding bioscience organisation, are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Apprentice Personal Assistant. As an Apprentice Personal Assistant, you will provide support to the Personal Assistance Team and be involved in a wide variety of administrative tasks.
This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual keen to gain practical administrative experience within a fast-paced and successful team, while completing a nationally recognised qualification.
You will be empowered to take initiatives, make decisions and manage your own workflow. You will work closely with and learn from a team of highly dedicated and passionate Personal Assistants and Support professionals.
Your roles and responsibilities
- Arranging travel
- Assisting with expense claims
- Assisting with the organisation & setup of events
- Raising purchase orders
- Arranging meetings as required
- Ad hoc project-based work
- Assisting with some facilities duties
- Ad hoc catering support
- Any other duties as required
About youYou will be an enthusiastic and driven individual with excellent organisation and time-management skills, looking to gain administrative experience whilst working in a fast-paced office environment.
You will have a proactive, flexible and team-oriented approach, with a strong desire to learn and develop. You have strong communication skills both verbal and written and you will need to be highly reliable and punctual.
You feel confident using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel & Outlook, are organised and methodical as well as having a solid attention to details.
Qualifications requirements• You must hold 5 GCSEs (graded A* to C or 9 to 5) or equivalent.
• Have Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent.
• Have been a resident in the UK/EEA/EU for the last 3 years.

Future prospectsAfter completing this apprenticeship, you could typically continue to a next level Apprenticeship or take on a full-time position in an organisation.
At Abcam we very much encourage internal promotions and movement and therefore there could be permanent opportunities for you in either in the Personal Assistance / Support department or in a different team. This will depend on your performance, your interest and successful completion of your course.
