About the role
Abcam, a rapidly expanding bioscience organisation, are looking for an experienced manager to join our first-class In-House Manufacturing team. You will supervise a small team of scientists in the manufacture of electrophoresis buffers, gels and Coomassie stains.
This is a very exciting opportunity for someone to have an immediate and positive impact within the team and ultimately support researchers and scientists across the world to discover more faster!
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supervision of a small team of manufacturing scientists.
- Plan production schedules.
- You will be working a combination of early (7am to 3pm) and late (12pm to 8pm) shifts on a rotational basis.
- Oversee the manufacture of Abcam products according to manufacturing batch records (MBR’s).
- Actively drive product improvement and process scale up.
- Assist with quality control when required.
- Actively participate in laboratory and company meetings.
- Maintain an accurate and complete record of all laboratory work performed.
- Uphold health and safety guidelines.
Our ideal candidate will be a team player, highly self-motivated, hardworking, have excellent organisational capabilities and deliver results consistently to a high-standard in a fast-paced environment.
You will have a degree or higher qualification in biological sciences and a minimum of five years’ experience of working in laboratory production. Previous supervisory or project management is essential. You should be team focused with the ability to motivate the team to hit production targets.
You should have a flexible approach to work, being able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. The ability to work accurately and to follow both written and verbal instructions whilst maintaining accurate and detailed records together with excellent communication skills are a must
Our ideal candidate will have an awareness of working to strict timelines and demanding quality standards. Basic level chemistry is advantageous. Prior experience with antibodies and antibody conjugation is desirable although not essential as full training will be provided.
