About the Role

The Sr. Director, Global Supply Chain has overall global responsibility for global planning, OEM procurement, inventory management, and trade compliance for Abcam.  S/he will lead and develop an organization undergoing a considerable amount of market growth and change. 



This is a key enterprise-wide leadership position, reporting directly to the company’s SVP Global Supply Chain and Manufacturing (SCM), ensuring the right level of planning competence and capacity is in place to drive planning through strong supply chain processes and within S&OP framework, utilizing ERP planning tools. Responsible to work directly with key business stakeholders to understand strategic initiatives required to support business objectives in each product category.



The Abcam portfolio is complex, with >100k products in the catalog, so the successful candidate needs to bring planning capability across systems and process (“how to” is critical to building the best performing team). We are rapidly growing and key to success in this position is the ability to build a strong team, as well as possessing the ability to work within and across the organization and external provider network at all levels

 

About the Department

Supply Chain and Manufacturing at Abcam is an integrated team that collaborates broadly across the organization in support of Customers, Products and Innovation, and Corporate Development to advance our mission.  Functionally, SCM includes Supply Chain Planning and Inventory, Logistics, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Custom Services, Infrastructure/Facilities, and Employee Health and Safety.

 
 
 

About You

 
  • Extensive professional experience spanning relevant areas of manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, procurement, and quality – preferably in the medical device field.  

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in technical, engineering or business discipline; Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in multi-site operations, plant transformation, resolving material flow issues, and establishing value streams highly preferred.

  • Knowledge & experience in working with manufacturing technology & systems (Oracle, SAP etc.) to support efficiency and track KPI’s

  • Experience operating and leading in a lean environment is a must
  • Experience in ISO9001 is a must and ISO13485/FDA preferred
  • Previous experience managing operations of a business with significant complexity demonstrated by revenue size, product portfolio depth, or total number of SKU’s.

  • Project/Program Management skills and awareness, preferably with Agile experience

  • Experience with M&A and plant rationalization (consolidate/shutdown) experience and has successfully led the planning and execution of consolidating products, processes, and physical footprint of at least two businesses and/or divisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and people in a complex environment.
