Scientist, In-House Manufacturing

Department: In-house Manufacturing

Location: Eugene, Oregon, United States

The Role:

Abcam is looking for an experienced Scientist to join our in-house manufacturing team in Eugene. This critical position will report to our Head of Manufacturing and lead a team of Scientists which are responsible for the manufacturing, quality testing and assembling our expanding portfolio of products.

Essential requirements:

  • B.S. in Biology, or closely related discipline

  • Experience supervising and developing the technical skills of others.

  • Team focused with the ability to work effectively with others.

  • Practical experience within a laboratory with the ability to use life sciences laboratory techniques.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize, multitask and work to deadlines.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

  • Excellent organization skills and familiarity with a fast-paced work environment are required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and accurate record keeping

  • Be a team player; facilitate open and constructive communication within the in-house manufacturing team and other teams within the company.

  • Experience running and troubleshooting ELISA.

  • Experience developing and optimizing ELISAs 

 

Desired requirements

  • PhD or MSc in Biology or related fields or equivalent experience in industry setting.

     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team that manufactures and QC tests our growing product portfolio in accordance with production schedules without direction and supervision.

  • Schedules and supervises manufacturing and product testing for junior team members.

  • Drafts, implements, and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Independently root causes and reports on investigations.
  • Leads process optimization initiatives.
  • Trains and supervises colleagues in the lab on established procedures.
  • Identifies ways to reduce wastes and maximize resources.
  • Ensures manufacturing processes comply with documented quality policies, SOPs, and Health and Safety procedures.

  • Contribute to housekeeping tasks within relevant laboratory areas.
