In order to meet Abcam’s ambitious growth targets, we are looking for a global Project Manager to help drive projects delivering improvements in manufacturing quality, efficiency and scalability.
Reporting to the Director of Global Technical Operations, you will assist a small multi-disciplinary team working to deliver solutions to complex design and engineering problems. You will be required to manage a diverse range of projects from small-scale feasibility studies to full manufacturing system rollouts. Proficiency working in multiple cross-functional teams and ability set priorities whilst maintaining exceptional attention to detail are essential requirements.
Day-to-day activities would include providing project management support through scheduling, task planning, team organisation, development of budgets/financial models and preparation of other supporting documentation as required. A key component of this work will be leveraging the effectiveness of the team’s activities through building positive and trusted relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Lead, guide and motivate small multi-disciplinary teams working on core strategic projects
Define project scope, guidelines, milestones and task allocation
Ensure all projects follow execution best practices
Identify development opportunities and help drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, systems, hardware and capacity utilisation.
Manage a diverse portfolio of smaller projects and/or larger individual projects.
Provide weekly performance feedback to the group on resource allocation, risks, issues and schedule adherence
Prepare and develop project plans, documents, schedules, budgets and risk management strategy
Build positive, trusted and effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
Partner with Abcam R&D groups to manage in-house proof-of-concept experiments/projects that will inform subsequent equipment design studies
Manage laboratory equipment vendors, solution providers and engineering contractors on instrument / hardware integration projects
Degree in business, scientific, technical or engineering discipline
Proven track record of delivering projects within a multidisciplinary team in a complex technical environment
Highly organised, able to work to deadlines and prioritise effectively
Strong consultative, analytical and problem-solving skills
Flexibility and judgement in redefining project objectives or scope in a fast-evolving commercial and technical landscape
Commercially and technically astute, able to understand interdependencies of goals, resourcing, risks and issues across multiple projects
Experience preparing and presenting investment plans or project proposals
Equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team
Passion for technology and an understanding of the potential of manufacturing automation
