Job Title: DevOps Engineer

 


About the role 

 

Join Abcam’s DevOps team as a DevOps Engineer. In this role you will work with the DevOps and Engineering teams to build and maintain Abcam’s technology platforms. You will support existing systems and infrastructure and help implement new technology using automation and code to deliver scalable, reliable and repeatable results. You will champion automation and innovation.

 

 


Roles & responsibilities:

 


  • Ensure the uptime and stability of the Production and Development infrastructure.

  • Build and maintain the software deployment tools and pipelines

  • Continuously develop and improve new and existing automation processes

  • Work with the DevOps and Engineering teams to implement infrastructure required to build, test and run our applications.

  • Build our automated cloud infrastructure

  • Work with cross functional teams to deliver new technical projects.

  • Drive improvements to our deployment process and tooling

  • Ensure that all documentation is up to date, issues are logged and tracked


     

 


About you

You will be deeply technical, with strong experience with Windows and Linux systems, particularly for web operations (e.g. IIS / Apache etc.). You will understand the value of automation and have some experience with coding repeatable tasks. Specific experience with Puppet is an advantage. You will have experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure and ideally using Terraform or Cloud Formation to automate provisioning. You will understand development pipelines. Any experience with Team City / Jenkins / Octopus is valuable. You will be able to script in a at least one of the following languages: PowerShell / bash / python. Any experience with containers in a production environment is also beneficial.

 

 


You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to explain complex technical concepts to a less technical audience. You will be a true team player, keen share your knowledge and skills, no heroes.
